EVANSON, Ill. -- Northwestern women's swimming and diving launches into its winter quarter schedule with a double dual at noon CT Saturday, Jan. 14, against Notre Dame and host No. 22 Michigan. Live results of the meet can be found at .
The competition will be the first of three-straight weekends of racing and the final meet on the road for the Wildcats as they prepare for the February 15-18 Big Ten Championships in Iowa City, Iowa. NU returns to the Norris Aquatics Center on January 21 and January 27-28 for its final dual action of the season.
Northwestern spent its winter training trip at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., working out at altitude, participating in local community service efforts and also sweeping a double-dual meet against local Colorado College and Austin College.
The Wildcats earned five NCAA `B' provisional qualifying standards during the fall portion of the schedule, inclusive of three individual and two relay cuts. Senior Jenny Wilson (Bethesda, Md./Sidwell Friends School) has `B' times in both breaststroke distances while junior Meredith King (Louisville, Ky./duPont Manual) has one in the 400 IM. In addition NU's 400 and 800 free relay teams also recorded `B' standards during the fall.
Northwestern's lineup will be boosted during the swim-up to the Big Ten Championships by the return of senior 400 IM school-record-holder Hannah Points (Tualatin, Ore./Tualatin), who missed the majority of the fall following an injury. Points won all three of her events against conference foe Illinois to open 2011-12 before returning to the pool for the first time since then at NU's training trip dual in December.
