FLUSHING, N.Y. -- As the fall tennis season winds to a close, Northwestern's top doubles tandem of Linda Abu Mushrefova and Nida Hamilton will head to the Big Apple to take on the best of the best at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships this weekend.

Abu Mushrefova (Bradenton, Fla./Pendleton) and Hamilton (Oak Brook, Ill./Hinsdale Central) finished as runners-up to Notre Dame's Kristy Frilling and Shannon Mathews on Monday Oct. 24 at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships in Columbus, Ohio. By virtue of their strong record this fall and national ranking, the Wildcats found their way in the national tournament. NU's pair enters this competitive field as the third-seeded team in the draw.

After a first-round bye, Abu Mushrefova and Hamilton will open play against TCU's team of Millie Nichols and Olivia Smith. That match is slated to begin Thursday at 9 a.m. CT. The rest of the Wildcats will be at Arizona State this weekend for the Thunderbird Classic, which does not begin until Friday, Nov. 4.
