WILMINGTON, N.C. – Northwestern began competition at the 2011 Landfall Tradition Friday on the Jack Nicklaus Course. This is NU's final event of the fall as they compete in the 18-team field in Wilmington, N.C.
Three strokes separate three of the five Wildcat competitors as the team sits in 16th place after the first round. Freshman Hana Lee (Hacienda Heights, Calif./Wilson) leads the team with a 6-over 78 and is tied for 32nd place. Senior Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) is one stroke behind Lee with a 7-over 79 to tie for 47th.
Junior Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) had two birdies in the first round but finished with an 8-over 80 and finished day one in a tie for 53rd.
Freshman Brittany Mai (Poway, Calif./Poway) and sophomore Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) round out the NU competitors. Mai shot an 11-over 83 (T-75th) while Brown finished the first day with a 12-over 84 (T-79th).
Round two begins tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. CT.
