EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern's season-opening dual on Nov. 5 against Stanford at Marist High School is just around the corner and Wildcat fans can purchase tickets beginning at 9 a.m. Monday Oct. 24. Tickets are $7 for adults, $4 for students and $3 for groups of 15 or more and can be purchased in advance by calling 1-888-GO-PURPLE.
The match begins at 3 p.m. but fans can enter as early as 1:30 p.m. Tickets will also be available at the door the day of the event but a large crowd is expected so fans are encouraged to get tickets before matchday.
“This is one of the premier duals to start the season and we're looking forward to starting the 2011-12 campaign against strong competition,” Northwestern head coach Drew Pariano said. “The dual features two top-20 teams and several marquee matchups that will make for an exciting start to the season.”
After posting an 18-2 dual record last year, a solid core returns to the mat for Northwestern for the 2011-12 season. Several college wrestling websites have multiple Wildcats ranked in their preseason polls and the Nov. 5 dual is the first chance for fans to see them in action.
Marist High School is located on Chicago's South Side at 4200 W. 115th St. and Northwestern co-captain John Schoen (197 lbs.) is a Marist graduate. Schoen owns school records for takedowns and escapes, while amassing a career record of 118-38 in high school.
