STANFORD, Calif. -- Teresa Noyola scored a pair of first-half goals as No. 2 Stanford beat Northwestern, 6-0, in the first-ever meeting between the schools Sunday.
Northwestern put four shots on goal in the match, one each from Jill Dunn (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley), Sami Schrakamp (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista), Niki Sebo (Downers Grove, Ill./North) and Julie Sierks (Edina, Minn./Edina). Each of the shots came in the second half for the Wildcats, who were outshot by the Cardinal, 36-4.
Freshman goalkeeper Anna Cassell (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline) made six goals against the Cardinal offense, which is averaging nearly four goals per match on the season.
Northwestern continues its three-match road trip next weekend as the Wildcats head downstate to take on Illinois State on Sunday, Sept. 11. The match is slated to begin at 1 p.m. NU then returns home to Lakeside Field to host Loyola (Chicago) at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14. Admission and parking are free for Northwestern women's soccer matches at Lakeside Field.
