Notre Dame Invitational -- Complete Results
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Northwestern, ranked No. 7 in the USTFCCCA Midwest Regional poll, ran to a second-place finish in the Gold Division of the adidas Notre Dame Invitational at the Notre Dame Golf Course Friday afternoon in South Bend. Junior Audrey Huth won the 5K race with a season-best time of 17:29, 16 seconds better than her closest competitor.
The Wildcats finished with 56 points, 16 shy of winner Grand Valley State, which placed three runners in the top five of the event. Central Michigan placed third with 61 points.
Despite a soggy course and winds upwards of 40 miles per hour, Huth's time eclipsed her previous season-best finish by nearly a full 30 seconds. Sophie Ewald was Northwestern's second finisher of the day, crossing in 18:07 to easily set a season-best, while senior Rachel Kaminski was less than a second behind Ewald in 12th overall.
Sophomore Lexie Goldsmith took 14th with a time of 18:09 while her classmate, Ann Powers ran to a time of 18:19 to also record a top-20 finish, taking 19th.
