NU Announces Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week

Sept. 13, 2011

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Wildcat junior Chelsea Armstrong (Perth, Australia/Penrhos) of the field hockey team and senior Bryce McNaul (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) of the football team have been named NU's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.

McNaul led Northwestern's defense in its home opening win over Eastern Illinois with eight tackles while also making his first career interception. McNaul is NU's leading tackler through two games this season with 13.

Armstrong scored two goals and added an assist in three games for the Wildcats last week, including one in NU's 2-1 upset of eighth-ranked American University on Sunday. On Tuesday, she put the finishing touches on a 3-1 defeat of Ball State to take sole possession of second place on the school's all-time list for goals scored (54) as well as points scored (135).

This week's Community Service Athlete of the week is Jenny Wilson (Bethesda, Md./Sidwell Friends School) of the women's swimming team. Wilson served as a swim buddy at the Big Shoulders Open Water 5K at Ohio Street Beach last weekend. She partnered with a woman who had never swum a 5K before and who had set a goal time of 3.5 hours. With Jenny's help, she finished in 2.75 hours and was cheered at the finish by the rest of the NU women's swimming and diving team.
