EVANSTON, Ill. -- After three tournaments on the road to begin the 2011 season, Northwestern finally returns to Welsh-Ryan Arena Sept. 16-17 to open its home schedule with the 30th Wildcat Classic. NU's slate begins at 7 p.m. CT Friday night, Sept. 16, against Duquesne before it faces both Colgate (noon CT) and WAC power New Mexico State (7 p.m. CT) on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Not quite an annual tournament during its history in Evanston, the Classic has been played in each of the last 10 years after being skipped most recently in 2001. Northwestern has won the title at its flagship tournament in five of the last six years, compiling a 17-1 record with the only loss coming via a tight, four-set setback against then-No. 4 UCLA in 2008.
