Willie's Wildcat Cookbook Released to Support the Wildcat Fund

Sept. 7, 2011

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Featuring the likes of Cindy Crawford, Luke Donald, Nick Roach and others, Northwestern's CatBackers have assembled Willie's Wildcat Cookbook: a collection of favorite recipes from faculty, staff, alumni, parents and fans. Willie's Wildcat Cookbook contains 352 pages of over 600 recipes, sports facts on our 19 varsity athletic programs, inspirational quotes from our head coaches, over 100 pictures, training table menus, Willie's Cat Food and cooking and tailgating tips.

The Cookbook contains recipes from over 25 former NU student-athletes including current Chicago Bear Nick Roach, current Washington Redskin Barry Cofield, the world's No. 1 ranked golfer Luke Donald and former basketball All-American and NBA veteran Evan Eschmeyer. Former University President Henry Bienen, former athletic director Rick Taylor, former athletic director and current President of the Green Bay Packers Mark Murphy, former head coach Randy Walker's family and former head football coach Gary Barnett all graciously provided recipes. The book also includes recipes from such noted celebrities as Bobby Flay, Stephanie Izard and Cindy Crawford along with recipes from restaurants like Wildfire, McCormick and Schmick's, Oceanique, Bluestone and Lou Malnati's.

All of the proceeds from the sale of the book go directly to the Wildcat Fund, which is the annual, unrestricted fund for Northwestern University Athletics. It exists to provide scholarship and other vital assistance to student-athletes competing in 19 intercollegiate varsity sports.

Willie's Wildcat Cookbook is being rolled out beginning today, Wednesday, Sept. 7. The cost is $25, and it will be available at NUSports.com, the Norris University Center Book Store, Let's Tailgate, Beck's Book Store, The Book Stall in Winnetka and Backyard Barbeque in Wilmette.
