EVANSTON, Ill. - Midnight may be the witching hour and the time when Cinderella's glamorous carriage turns into a pumpkin, but on Aug. 10 it represents an exciting time for the Northwestern men's soccer team.
The date and time marks the arrival of a new season for the Wildcats who will be kicking off their new campaign with their first practice of the year at Lakeside Field.
The 'Cats have taken advantage of the opportunity to get things started at the very first possible minute for a number of years under head coach Tim Lenahan. Fans are invited to join Northwestern for this year's festivities.
Here's a rundown of the squad's scheduled activities for the evening:
12:01-12:30 a.m. - Team warmup and activities (including PK contest)
12:30-12:45 a.m. - PK contest for Northwestern fans (winners of the contest win a Northwestern mini soccer ball provided by NU Men's Soccer)
12:45-1 a.m. - Poster signing session with the 2011 NU Wildcat Soccer team
The Wildcats open their exhibition season Aug. 14 with a contest at SIU Edwardsville, while the regular-season slate gets underway Aug. 26 with a home game against Eastern Illinois.
