NU SAAC To Host Evanston Fire Versus Northwestern Police Kickball Game

May 25, 2011

EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will host an Evanston Fire Department versus Northwestern Police Department kickball game at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, in Trienens Hall due to poor weather in the forecast.

"For over a year, SAAC has wanted to have a kickball game, and with the involvement of Evanston Firefighters and Northwestern Police, we finally made it a reality," said SAAC co-president Carolyn Edwards. "The goal of the event is to show our appreciation to the Fire and Police forces that help Northwestern student-athletes on a daily basis, to build relationships in our community and to have some fun competition."

The game will feature one Northwestern student-athlete from each of the school's 19 varsity athletic programs interspersed on the teams of firefighters and police squads. NU associate head softball coach Caryl Drohan will coach the police team while head baseball coach Paul Stevens will lead the firefighter team.
