NCAA Central Regional Tee Times -- Friday, May 6

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- After one round of play at the 2011 NCAA Women's Golf Central Regional, Northwestern sits in prime position in a tie for fifth-place overall with a 14-over 302. Three 'Cats shot rounds of 75 or better, led by Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) who fired a 1-over 73 on the day. The freshman, who sank three birdies in the opening round, is in a tie for 11th place in the individual rankings.

Both sophomore Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) and junior Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) trail Brown by one stroke with a 3-over 75, leaving them in a tie for 15th overall. Weaver, coming off a second-place finish at the Big Ten Championships at the end of April, maintained even par throughout most of the day, allowing her to keep near the top of the pack. Lederhausen led all Wildcats with four birdies on the day, including three in a row on holes 9, 10, and 11.

Alex's older sister, Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central), and senior Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) both shot a 9-over 81, rounding out the Wildcats' lineup.

With 36 holes remaining, Northwestern is on pace to advance to the NCAA Championships, sitting only one shot back of Minnesota (13-over 301) and only four back of host Notre Dame (10-over 298) in third. Joining the 'Cats at 14-over are second-seeded Duke and eighth-seeded Stanford. As the Central Region's top seed, UCLA is holding fast through the first round, posting a 3-over 291 leading third-seeded LSU (7-over 295) by four strokes. Chattanooga (15-over 303) is in eighth, Kent State (16-over 304) sits in ninth, and Ohio State and Texas round out the top-10, each with a 18-over 306.

After teeing off in the afternoon session on Thursday, the Wildcats will be among the morning field on Friday, getting round two underway at 7 a.m. CT, teamed with Minnesota and UNLV. Live scoring of Friday's second round is available at Golfstat.com.
