EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's spring track competition schedule reaches its pinnacle this week when the Wildcats compete at the 2011 edition of the prestigious Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, on Thursday. Seven NU runners are slated to take to the track to take on the nation's best in the 5K, 10K and 4x1600-meter races.
Northwestern 6K school-record holder Audrey Huth will be in the field in the 5K while sophomore Moira Ryan and freshman Nicole Oliver will compete in the 10K looking to build on strong first races at that distance two weeks ago.
Rounding out NU's entrants at the Drake Relays is a 4x1600-meter team consisting of junior Rachel Kaminski, sophomores Allegra Mayer and Lauren Neuschel and freshman Libby Kocha.
Thursday's Distance Carnival is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. CT in Drake Stadium, with the action culminating in the 5K and 10K collegiate races.
Established in 1910, the much-anticipated Drake Relays regularly attracts more than 8,000 participants to Des Moines.
