COLUMBUS, Ohio -- After spending the day in cold and dreary conditions, Northwestern finds itself in prime position at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational in Columbus, Ohio, after two rounds. Behind the strong play of Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) and Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central), Northwestern finds itself tied for fifth in the Invite.

The Wildcats, ranked 40th in the latest Golfstat.com rankings, shot a 20-over 308 in the first round, finishing in third place in the field. In total, four Wildcats shot a 79 or better. Weaver and Lederhausen, both with a 3-over 75, led the way for the 'Cats in the team race and finished in a tie for second among the 75-player field.

Following the strong first round, Northwestern lost some of its momentum as Weaver was the only Wildcat to shoot sub-80. Weaver, even with three birdies in the round, fired a seven-over 79. The senior's round led the way for a 12-over 320 team score for NU, dropping them to fifth place. Weaver (75-79=154) is in a two-way tie for seventh place, and Alex Lederhausen (75-80=155) finds herself in a five-way tie for ninth place.

In the team standings, the Wildcats' 32-over 628 leaves them now 25 strokes behind the leader, Michigan State, but only seven strokes behind Kent State in second.

Senior Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central), shot a 6-over 78 in the opening round and is in a 22nd-place tie with a 14-over 158 (78-80). Freshman Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) shot a 9-over 81 in both rounds, leaving her in a 40th-place tie at 162. Kylie Fuller, sitting in a tie for 63rd, was the only Wildcat to improve her score in the second round.
