Record Number of NU Spring Sports to be Televised, Streamed

EVANSTON, Ill. -- A record number of Northwestern sporting events will be broadcast nationwide this spring, with at least 40 baseball, football, lacrosse and softball games scheduled to be televised or streamed live on the internet.

Northwestern fans can easily keep track of the Wildcats' upcoming broadcast schedule with the new `On The Air' feature on NUsports.com. Located at NUsports.com/ontheair, the page features a compilation of upcoming TV, radio and internet broadcasts featuring Northwestern sports. The page will be updated on a regular basis to adjust for changes in the broadcast schedule.

Highlighting the spring schedule is coverage of the Northwestern football spring scrimmage, which will stream live from Ryan Field on BigTenNetwork.com. The annual scrimmage is set to begin at noon on Saturday, April 16.

NUsports.com will also provide free coverage of lacrosse's March 19 game against William & Mary from Cowboys Stadium in Dallas. A live video stream will be available free of charge for the 7 p.m. game.

For the second consecutive season all home lacrosse games will be broadcast, beginning with the Wildcats' home opener against California on Friday afternoon. Three games will stream on NUsports.com, while BigTenNetwork.com will stream an additional three contests. NU's two remaining home games will be televised live by the Big Ten Network.

Softball is scheduled to have at least 19 games broadcast, including a pair of live television appearances on the Big Ten Network. Additional coverage of seven home games will be available online, with BigTenNetwork.com providing coverage.

Northwestern baseball will have at least 12 games broadcast this spring, including seven Big Ten conference home games that will stream on NUsports.com. Additional coverage for non-conference baseball games will be announced at a later date.

BigTenNetwork.com broadcasts are entirely produced by students at Northwestern and often air tape delayed on the Big Ten Network as "Student U" telecasts. Streaming video on NUsports.com is available with a subscription to Wildcats All Access.
