PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Senior Amy Jaeschke earned a first-team All-Big Ten nod from both the Conference coaches as well as the media, the Big Ten Conference announced today (Feb. 28). The captain also was named to the All-Defensive team, as chosen by the league mentors. Fellow classmate Beth Marshall and sophomore Kendall Hackney joined Jaeschke in Conference recognition, earning Honorable Mention accolades from the media.
Jaeschke has been an All-Big Ten honoree in each of her four seasons as a Wildcat, with each selection more impressive than the last. She earned Honorable Mention and All-Freshman team accolades her first season, second-team laurels as a sophomore and first team (media)/ second team (coaches) recognition as a junior. Jaeschke is the first Wildcat since Kristina Divjak to earn first-team accolades from both the coaches and media.
Jaeschke's honor acknowledges an outstanding season in which she is averaging 22.3 ppg, 9.0 rpg and 3.3 bpg. Currently, she is seventh in the country in swats and eighth in scoring.
Jaeschke has enjoyed an exceptional career in Evanston, where she cemented herself as one of NU's all-time greats. The Wilmette, Ill., native is second in both scoring and rebounding in Northwestern history and tops NU's career blocks chart. She also is 21st all-time in NCAA Div. I history with 349 rejections. She has garnered national attention, being named to the State Farm Wade Trophy Watch List, Naismith Trophy Preseason List and Lowe's Senior Class Award Candidate roster.
Hackney is the Wildcats second-leading scorer, averaging 11.1 ppg and 5.0 rpg. She is second behind Marshall as the team's most consistent free-throw shooter, connecting on 81 percent of her attempts. Last season, the Cincinnati, Ohio, native was named to the Big Ten's All-Freshman team.
Marshall is third on the team in scoring with 10.5 ppg and first in free-throw percentage, connecting on 85.9 percent of her attempts. She leads the team with 119 assists (4.4 apg). Marshall is second in the conference in minutes per outing with 36.4 mpg.
It is the first time since 1998 that three Wildcats have been honored in one season. Ironically, the accolades fell the same way as they did this year, with Kristina Divjak earning first team honors while Megan Chawansky and Amber DeWall received honorable mention laurels.

Northwestern enters the 2011 Big Ten Tournament as the eighth seed, its highest ranking in the event since the 1996-97 season. The Wildcats face ninth-seeded Minnesota at approximately 6 p.m. CT Thursday. The contest will be carried live on the Big Ten Network.
