Jaeschke Named to State Farm Wade Trophy Midseason List

Feb. 2, 2011

Atlanta, Ga. -- Senior Amy Jaeschke was added to the 2010-11 State Farm Wade Watch Trophy Watch List, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced today (Feb. 2). Jaeschke joins six other women's basketball players who were added to the preseason list of 25. The award goes to the nation's most outstanding NCAA Division I women's basketball player, one who not only excels athletically but also serves as a positive role model both on and off the court.

Keisha Hampton of DePaul, Kalisha Keane of Michigan State, Jeanette Pohlen of Stanford, Liz Repella of West Virginia, Angel Robinson of Marquette and Riquna Williams of Miami (Fla.) join Jaeschke as the midseason additions to the original preseason list of 25 "Wade Watch" hopefuls.

Jaeschke is having a banner year, currently ranking seventh in the country in scoring (22.9 ppg), fifth in blocks (3.8 bpg). She just cracked the NCAA Division I all-time career blocks list, recording the 337th block of her Wildcat tenure. She is the first Wildcat since Anucha Browne in 1985 to be honored by the Wade Trophy committee. Jaeschke joins Browne, Julie Calahan and Mary Murphy as the only Northwestern nominees.

State Farm and the Wade Trophy Coalition each year present The State Farm Wade Trophy to the nation's most outstanding NCAA® Division I women's basketball player - one who not only excels athletically but also serves as a positive role model both on and off the court. The acclaimed Wade Watch list, from which The State Farm Wade Trophy recipient is chosen, consists of players selected on the basis of game and season statistics, leadership, character, effect on their team and overall playing ability.

The State Farm Wade Watch list will be trimmed to 12 finalists in mid-March. State Farm and the Wade Trophy Coalition will officially announce the State Farm Wade Trophy winner during the WBCA National Convention, held in conjunction with the NCAA® Women's Final Four® in Indianapolis.
