EVANSTON, Ill. -- Wildcat junior Joshua Graves (Milwaukee, Wis./Nicolet) of the men's tennis team and sophomore Felicitas Lenz (Altadena, Calif./Polytechnic School) of the women's swimming and diving team have been named NU's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week for their performances over the weekend.
Graves helped NU open the 2011 dual season with a doubleheader sweep of Ball State and UIC Sunday, going a combined 4-0 playing No. 1 in both singles and doubles. Against Ball State, Graves accounted for the clinching fourth point with a hard-fought 6-3, 7-6 (5) victory to dispel the Cardinals' hopes of a late comeback. Graves and doubles partner Spencer Wolf were also responsible for clinching the doubles point in both duals.
Lenz won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events in NU's tri-dual with Notre Dame and Michigan on Saturday, earning a season-best score of 292.50 on the 1-meter springboard. Lenz' efforts helped the Wildcats earn a dual victory over the Fighting Irish, 189.5-110.5.
This week's Community Outreach Athlete of the Week is freshman Will Hampton (Houston, Texas/Cy-Creek) of the football team. Hampton and other members of the football and baseball teams visited Edison School in Skokie last week to play sports with the students and interact with them in a Q&A about life skills and their experiences as a Northwestern student-athlete.
