MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Northwestern capped a solid weekend at the USFA Junior North American Cup, placing four of its five competitors among the top-20 in their respective weapons. The four-day event was highlighted by a pair of Wildcat epéeists, both of whom wrapped up a stellar weekend with top-10 finishes.

Competing in her hometown, sophomore Kate Cavanaugh (Milwaukee, Wis./Nicolet) made her homecoming a memorable one, posting a 10-2 record on the weekend to finish fifth out of 145 competitors and achieve her A2010 rating. Cavanaugh finished two spots better than freshman Dina Bazarbayeva (Houston, Texas), who finished seventh with a 9-3 record and also notching her A2010 rating.

Two other Northwestern finished among the top-20 in their respective weapons as 2010 All-American Dayana Sarkisova (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central) placed 15th out of 131 competitors in the women's foil while Chloe Grainger (Decatur, Ga./Decatur) finished 19th out of 97 fencers in the women's sabre.
