Northwestern Draws Host Penn State in First Round of Big Ten Tourney

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern has earned the No. 5 seed for this week's 2010 Big Ten Men's Soccer Tournament and will face host and fourth-seeded Penn State at 2 p.m. Thursday in an opening-round contest in University Park, Pa.

The winner of the match between the Wildcats and the Nittany Lions advances to take on top-seeded Indiana in Friday's semifinal round.

NU played to a 1-1 draw with Penn State in the regular-season meeting between the teams Oct. 17 in Evanston. Kyle Schickel scored Northwestern's goal in the contest.

The Wildcats finished Big Ten play at 2-3-1, while Penn State finished with the same mark. The Nittany Lions earned the tiebreaker for the No. 4 seed based on having a better goal differential than the Wildcats in conference play.

The semifinal round and championship match are being televised live by Big Ten Network.
