2010 Windy City Collegiate Classic Results - Rounds One and Two
Final Round Tee Times
HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. -- A sunny but crisp day set the stage for the opening round of the 2010 Windy City Collegiate Classic as the Wildcats remain in the hunt in their home tournament, entering Tuesday's final round tied for fourth. Northwestern posted a 36-over 604 through the opening two rounds and is tied with San Diego State, nine shots back of third-place Texas Tech.
Despite a frost warning overnight, the course at Northmoor Country Club was ready for the Wildcats' third annual host tournament, but the chilly weather produced slightly higher scores in the morning hours. Northwestern posted a 20-over 304 through the opening 18 holes, led by a 2-over 73 from Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows), who posted an even-par 35 through the front nine.
As the temperatures started to rise, scores started to drop as Northwestern shaved four strokes off its opening round total, posting a 16-over 300 to tie its lowest single-round total of the season. Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) came on strong on the back nine for the Wildcats, recording birdies on the 15th, 16th and 17th holes to finish at 1-under 35 for the final nine holes and 1-over 72 for the second round.
Lederhausen's 5-over 147 was the low score of the day for Northwestern and puts her in a four-way tie for eighth place heading in to Tuesday's final round. She leads Weaver (6-over, 148) by one stroke as Weaver finds herself battling for a top-10 finish as well, sitting tied for 12th-place after 36 holes.
Anne Ormson (Granger, Ind./St. Anthony's) shot a pair of 6-over 77's on the day to finish third on the Wildcat scorecard with a 12-over 154. Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe Calif./Cathedral Catholic) and Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) round out the Northwestern competitors, finishing day one with a 15-over 157 and a 21-over 163, respectively.
Two-time defending champion Purdue (15-over, 583) holds a slim two-stroke advantage over Iowa State (17-over, 585) heading into the final 18 holes. Texas Tech (27-over 595) also remains in the hunt in third place, leading both the fourth-place Wildcats and Aztecs by nine shots.
Tuesday's final round gets underway at 8 a.m. with Northwestern teeing off among the first group of threesomes on hole one. Fans wishing to come out and cheer on the Wildcats are welcome, as admission to Tuesday's final round is free of charge. Live scoring of the final 18 holes will also be available at Golfstat.com.
