EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern first-year volunteer cross country coach Jordan Horwitz competed in the 2010 Chicago Marathon on Oct. 10 and finished the race in outstanding fashion. Horwitz recorded a time of 2:24:24 to place 41st overall and 13th in the 20-24 year old age group.
Horwitz' 41st-place finish was out of more than 45,000 runners who entered the race.
Horwitz executed his race strategy to near perfection, running negative 5K splits through nearly the entire race and averaging just over 5 minutes and 30 seconds per mile over the 26.2-mile course.
A native of Evanston, Ill., Horwitz ran collegiately at the University of New Hampshire where he won three individual America East Conference championships. He joined the NU cross country program in August after a coaching stint at Rhodes College in Tennessee.
