2010 Dick McGuire Invitational Final Results

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- A tough third round dropped Northwestern three spots at the Branch Law Firm Dick McGuire Invitational as the Wildcats shoot a 13-over 305 over the final 18 holes to finish 11th out of 17 teams. Northwestern, which began the day in eighth overall, just missed posting its second top-10 finish of the season, finishing one stroke back of host New Mexico (37-over, 913).

Sophomore Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) continued to play well at the University of New Mexico Championship course, finishing the final round with a 1-under 72 and tying for 11th individually with a 2-over 221 for the weekend. It was on this same course that Weaver posted the best finish of her career last season, placing fifth after shooting 4-under par.

Junior Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) notched her first top-20 finish of the season, finishing in a tie for 19th-place with a 4-over 223. Lederhausen, who shot an even-par 73 in round one, finished the tournament strong by registering a 1-over 74 over the final 18 holes.

Sophomore Anne Ormson (Granger, Ind./St. Anthony's) finished her first tournament of the season with a 17-over 236, saving her best round for last with a 4-over 77. Freshman Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) and senior Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) rounded out the Northwestern scorecard, recording a 19-over 238 and a 24-over 243, respectively.

Northwestern, which began the day in a five-team logjam jostling for the top-five, found itself on the higher end of the scorecard, finishing two shots back of ninth-place BYU (36-over, 912) and one stroke behind the host Lobos in 10th. The Wildcats held off both Colorado State (41-over, 917) and Georgia State (42-over, 918) and finished 28 strokes better than Big Ten rival Indiana (66-over, 942).

Oregon used a strong final round to surge ahead of Ohio State to capture the team title, posting a 5-over 881 to defeat the Buckyes (7-over, 883) by two strokes with Colorado (8-over, 884) finishing three shots back of the Ducks. Oregon's Erica Omlid captured the individual title with an impressive 8-under 211, holding off Ohio State's Rachel Rohanna by one shot.

It will be a while before Northwestern returns to the road as the Wildcats now set their sights on two consecutive home tournaments. First up is the 2010 Windy City Collegiate Classic, which will be held Monday, October 4 and Tuesday, October 5 at the Northmoor Country Club in Highland Park.
