MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- After splitting a pair of doubles matches in Saturday's morning session of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, Northwestern posted a 4-0 mark in singles action against Ball State. NU will conclude its season-opening tournament Sunday with a round of singles against host Marquette.
Sophomore Chris Jackman and freshman Raleigh Smith won for the second day in a row in doubles, defeating Wisconsin's Petr Satral and Alexander Teppert in tiebreakers to win, 9-8. On the flip side of a 9-8 tiebreaker outcome were NU's Tobias Reitz and Andrew McCarthy, who fell to the Badgers' Ricardo Martin and Billy Bertha.
Northwestern then moved into singles where it faced four members of the Ball State lineup. Jackman defeated Ball State sophomore Dalton Albertin, 6-3, 7-5, while his doubles partner, Smith, came up with a perfect 6-0, 6-0, victory against junior Derek Carpenter.
