EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern senior linebacker Quentin Davie (St. Louis, Mo./Cardinal Ritter) has been named to the 2010 Butkus Award collegiate watch list, awarded annually to the nation's top linebacker by The Butkus Foundation since 1985.
Davie is one of 51 student-athletes on the 2010 watch list. An independent Butkus Award Selection Committee, headed by Pro Football Weekly's Hub Arkush and comprised of 51 selectors including professional, college and high school scouts, and prominent sports journalists, will conduct the selection process.
Davie has made 26 starts in his career for Northwestern, compiling a career-best and team-high 90 stops in the 2009 season. He ranked in the top-20 in the Big Ten in tackles per game and tied for fifth with four forced fumbles on the year. In the Outback Bowl on New Year's Day, Davie had a team-best nine tackles including 2.5 for loss and one sack while also making a pass breakup.
A consensus preseason All-Big Ten linebacker, Davie earned first-team honors from Sporting News and second-team honors from Lindy's, Athlon Sports and Phil Steele's.
