EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern was named an All-Academic Team award recipient for the 2009-10 season by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), the organization announced today.
Teams with cumulative GPAs of 3.0 or higher were recognized with the honor. A total of 113 teams across all NCAA and NAIA divisions picked up the award, including 64 in NCAA Division I.
Earlier in the year, senior Jonathan Bowers (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) and junior Josh Dupont (Poway, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) were named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars by the GCAA. To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70 percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient also must be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
