EVANSTON, Ill. - ESPN announced today the start times and television designations for the contests in the 2010 ACC/Big Ten Challenge Presented by Dick's Sporting Goods. Northwestern's home game against Georgia Tech will tip at 6 p.m. on Nov. 30 and is being televised live by ESPN2.
For the fifth consecutive year, the event will feature 11 games and will include two telecasts on ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network. ESPN and ESPN2 will combine to televise the remaining nine games. The 2010 ACC/Big Ten Challenge schedule, including times and outlets, is listed below.
Northwestern is 4-7 in its first 11 ACC/Big Ten Challenge matchups, including three wins in the last four years. The Wildcats defeated NC State 73-59 in Raleigh, N.C., last season to help the Big Ten earn the Commissioner's Cup with the Challenge victory. This will be the first meeting between Northwestern and Georgia Tech.
The Wildcats went 20-14 during the 2009-10 season, including 7-11 in Big Ten play. NU advanced to the National Invitation Tournament for the second consecutive year and returns four starters and 12 letterwinners for the 2010-11 campaign.
Georgia Tech posted a 23-13 overall record and a 7-9 mark in ACC play last season. The Yellow Jackets reached the title game of the 2010 ACC Tournament where they were edged by eventual national champion Duke. Georgia Tech advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament, defeating Oklahoma State before falling to Ohio State.
A reminder that Wildcat fans can now make a deposit to secure season tickets to next year's men's basketball season in Welsh-Ryan Arena. The non-refundable deposit of $100 per seat will be applied toward the final cost of a full season ticket package, which will range from $125 to $350 dependent upon the number of home games and type of season ticket.
