EVANSTON, Ill. - 2010 Big Ten individual champion David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) has been named an All-Big Ten first-team selection by a vote of the conference coaches, the Big Ten office announced today (Tuesday).

The honor is the second of Lipsky's career after the junior earned an All-Big Ten second team nod in 2008-09. In 2009-10, Lipsky has a Northwestern-best 14 rounds at par or better, including seven in the 60s, in 10 stroke play events. His 72.10 stroke average on the year currently is the sixth-best in Wildcat history.

Lipsky has recorded two top-20 and four top-10 finishes in his 10 stroke play tournaments this year. For his top-10 finishes, he compiled first-place (Big Ten Championships), second-place (Navy Fall Classic), third-place (Windon Memorial) and fourth-place (Robert Kepler Intercollegiate) efforts.

In addition, Lipsky was named Big Ten Player of the Week after going 4-0 at the Big Ten Match Play Championships in February, leading the Wildcats to the team title at the tournament.

NU has had an All-Big Ten honoree in 12 of head coach Pat Goss' 14 seasons at the helm of the program.

In addition to Lipsky's selection, senior Jonathan Bowers (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) was named Northwestern's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree.

Northwestern will find out its NCAA Regional Tournament assignment at 5 p.m. CT Monday, May 10.
