Northwestern Heads to North Carolina For Bryan National Collegiate

EVANSTON, Ill. -- After spending some time in the Lonestar State, Northwestern now turns its focus to the Tar Heel State, getting set to compete in the 2010 Bryan National Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C., this weekend.

Hosted by both UNC Greensboro and Wake Forest, the 54-hole tournament gets underway Friday, April 2 and wraps up Sunday, April 4. The Bryan Park Golf and Enrichment Center, a par-72, 6,323 yard course, will serve as the host site for this year's tournament with competition getting underway at 7:20 a.m. CT Friday and Saturday and 7:30 a.m. CT Sunday.

18 teams will compete in this year's Bryan National Collegiate, including nine teams ranked among the top-25 in this week's Golfweek/Sagarin ratings. The ACC and SEC will be heavily represented this weekend as each conference places six teams in the field. Arkansas (No. 32), Auburn (No. 3), LSU (No. 20), South Carolina (No. 26), Tennessee (No. 13) and Vanderbit (No. 22) are the SEC teams in the competition with Duke (No. 4), Florida State (No. 25), North Carolina (No. 29), North Carolina State (No. 55), Virginia (No. 17) and Wake Forest (No. 15) representing the ACC.

Big Ten rival Ohio State (No. 21) joins the Wildcats in Greensboro this weekend, with College of Charleston (No. 68), Louisville (No. 30), UNC Greensboro (No. 73) and UNC Wilmington (No. 79) rounding out the competitive field.

Northwestern, ranked 39th in this week's ratings, is coming off a 12th-place finish at last weekend's Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas. Sophomore Kylie Fuller (Temecula, Calif./Chapparal) led the Wildcats with a 16-over 232, one shot better than freshman teammate Lauren Weaver's (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) 17-over 233. Weaver's 74.67 scoring average leads the team, followed by sophomore Alexandra Lederhausen's (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) 75.96 and Fuller's 76.08.
