COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Northwestern concluded its 2010 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships in 34th place as a team, finishing its meet Sunday afternoon with a pair of preliminary swims from its two-man contingent.

Junior Alex Tyler (Birmingham, Mich./Birmingham Groves) competed in the 200 breast on Sunday, placing 31st overall with a time of 1:58.46. He entered the day as the 34th overall seed in the event, moving up three spots during the competition.

Junior Sean Mathews (St. Louis, Mo./Lafayette) swam the 200 fly on Sunday, coming in 28th overall with a time of 1:46.02. Mathews previously competed in the 100 fly on Saturday in his first-career NCAA Championships.

Northwestern placed in the meet for the ninth time in the last 10 years after getting a pair of points from Tyler in Friday's 200 IM. Tyler earned honorable mention All-America honors in that event in his first trip to the national meet.
