2010 Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational Round Two Results

AUSTIN, Texas -- It was a rough second round for Northwestern as the Wildcats shoot a 26-over 314 to slide back into 11th-place at the 2010 Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational. NU, which began the day tied for seventh, trails Notre Dame by two strokes heading into Sunday's final round as it pursues its sixth top-10 finish of the season.

Strong wind gusts throughout the day proved to be a challenge to the majority of teams as the Wildcats saw slightly higher scores than they did in round one. Freshman Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) and junior Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio./Ursuline Academy) sit tied atop the Northwestern scorecard with a 10-over 154. Weaver put up a 7-over 79 on the day while Lindenschmidt posted an 8-over 80.

The remaining three Northwestern golfers sit just a pair of strokes back of their teammates, log jammed at third on the scorecard at 12-over 156. Sophomore Alexandra Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) had the Wildcats' low round of the day, shooting a 5-over 77. She was one shot better than freshman Mei Liu's (Austin, Texas/Lake Travis) 6-over 78 while sophomoe Kylie Fuller (Temecula, Calif./Chapparal) finished with a 10-over 82 to create the three-way tie.

Northwestern has its eye on the 10th-place Irish, but is also cautious of 12th-place UT-Chattanooga (40-over 616) who enters the final round just one shot back of the Wildcats. There remains a tough battle for first-place as second-ranked UCLA (9-over 585) leads eighth-ranked Arizona (10-over 586) by one stroke heading into the final round. Texas A&M (13-over 589), TCU (23-over 599) and Oregon (25-over 601) round out the top five.

Sunday's final round will be a shotgun start, beginning at 8:45 a.m as Northwestern begins the final day on holes 10-12. Live scoring will be available throughout the day at Golfstat.com.
