2009-10 Northwestern Women's Golf Statistics
EVANSTON, Ill. -- After a month-long hiatus, Northwestern returns to the links deep in the heart of Texas, competing at the 37th annual Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin. Hosted by the University of Texas, the 54-hole tournament gets underway Friday, March 26, and runs through Sunday, March 28.
Once again, it will be another challenging field the 39th-ranked Wildcats will meet up with as 15 of the 16 teams are ranked among the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. A pair of teams boat top-10 rankings, including second-ranked UCLA and eighth-ranked Arizona, while Stanford (No. 12), Texas A&M (No. 20), New Mexico (No. 22), Vanderbilt (No. 23) and TCU (No. 25) find themselves among the top-25. UC Davis (No. 26), Washington (No. 33), Texas (No. 34), Oregon (No. 37), Notre Dame (No. 40), Tulsa (No. 41), UT-Chattanooga (No. 45) and Oklahoma (No. 67) round out the participants.
The tournament will be played at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, a par-72, 6,255-yard course. Teams will play 18 holes each day, beginning at 8:15 a.m. on Friday and Saturday (split-tee start) and at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday (shotgun start). Live stats will available all weekend at Golfstat.com.
Northwestern is coming off an 11th-place finish at the 2010 Central District Invitational on Feb. 23 and was led by sophomore Kylie Fuller's (Temecula, Calif./Chapparal) 10-over 226. Fuller currently ranks third on the team in scoring average at 75.90, sitting behind freshman Lauren Weaver's (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) 74.24 and fellow sophomore Alexandra Lederhausen's (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) 75.48 average.
It has been a productive season thus far for head coach Emily Fletcher's Wildcats, who are seeking their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2007. Northwestern has finished in the top-10 in five of its seven events during the 2009-10 season and has already set a program single-season record with 11 sub-300 rounds.
