EVANSTON, Ill. -- Juniors Sean Mathews (St. Louis, Mo./Lafayette) and Alex Tyler (Birmingham, Mich./Birmingham Groves) will represent Northwestern at the 2010 NCAA Championships March 25-27 in Columbus, Ohio.
Each Wildcat will be making his first appearance at the NCAA Championships, with Mathews swimming in two events and Tyler earning a lane in three races. This is the 10th-consecutive year Northwestern has placed at least one swimmer in the NCAA field, and the first for head coach Jarod Schroeder in his inaugural season at the helm of the program.
Tyler is the 15th overall seed in the 200 IM, the 26th in the 400 IM and the 34th in the 200 breast. Mathews earned his ticket to the meet as the 17th seed in the 200 fly. He also will compete as the 47th seed in the 100 fly.
