EVANSTON, Ill. - After squaring off against one another Saturday in the regular-season finale for both teams, Northwestern and Indiana will meet up once again Thursday in an opening round matchup in the 2010 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The Wildcats (19-12, 7-11 Big Ten) earned the No. 7 seed for the tournament, while Indiana is seeded 10th. Tip-off is scheduled for approximately 4 p.m. Central time, 25 minutes following the completion of the day's first contest between Michigan and Iowa. The contest is being televised live by ESPN2.
NU and the Hoosiers split their regular-season series. Northwestern rolled to a 78-61 win over Indiana Feb. 7 in Evanston as all five Wildcats scored in double figures. Indiana won the rematch 88-80 in overtime last Saturday in Bloomington despite 31 points and 12 rebounds by John Shurna and 25 points and eight assists by Michael Thompson.
It will be the first time the Wildcats and Hoosiers have met in the Big Ten tournament. The winner of Thursday's matchup takes on second-seeded Purdue in Friday's quarterfinal round.
