Morton, Williams Named to Big Ten/Big East All-Challenge Teams

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern sophomores Zach Morton (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) and Quentin Williams (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) were both recognized for their play at last weekend's Big Ten/Big East Challenge by being named to the all-tournament team as selected by CollegeBaseball360.com. Morton was a first-team selection, while Williams was an honorable mention pick.

Morton first came through with his bat in Friday's opener against Connecticut. With two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning, he singled home Paul Snieder from second base to give NU a 6-5 walk-off win. At the plate, Morton finished the weekend with three hits in seven at-bats. He drove in two runs and scored a pair.

Morton got the starting nod on the mound Sunday against Seton Hall and threw six solid innings. He didn't allow an earned run while scattering six hits and striking out three.

Meanwhile, Williams got the starting nod in left field in all three games posted a team-leading .556 batting average on the weekend. He collected five hits in nine at-bats, including notching his first collegiate three-hit game in Saturday's 7-5 win over Rutgers. Included in the performance was a two-run home run.

Northwestern (2-5) returns to action this Friday through Sunday as it participates in the Dairy Queen Classic at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn.
