2010 Lady Puerto Rico Results - Round Two ![]()
RIO GRANDE, P.R. -- Thanks to its 11th sub-300 round of the season, Northwestern jumped up two spots on the team leaderboard, closing out the second round of the 2010 Lady Puerto Rico Classic in a tie for seventh-place. The Wildcats shot a 9-over 297 on the afternoon, the sixth-best round of the day, and enter Tuesday's final round just three shots back of cracking the top-five.
After posting an 18-over 306 in round one, Northwestern shaved nine strokes off its second-round total. The 9-over 297 is the 11th round this season in which Emily Fletcher's Wildcats have checked in under 300, breaking the previous season high of 10 rounds set by the 2005-06 squad.
Individually, freshman Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) once again had an impressive round, finishing with a 1-under 71 for her sixth round of par or better on the year. She moves into a tie for 16th with a 3-over 147 through the opening 36 holes. Sophomore Alexandra Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale) posted a 7-over 79 and is second on the Northwestern scorecard with a 7-over 151.
Junior Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) also had a big day for Northwestern, finishing with an even-par 72 to sit at 9-over 153, along with fellow junior Innapha Tantanavivat (Bangkok, Thailand/David Leadbetter Academy). Tantanavivat posted a 3-over 75 over the second round as the junior duo are tied for 32nd overall.
The Wildcats are tied with Texas Tech for seventh-place, one stroke back of sixth-place Florida State (26-over, 602) and just three back of fifth-place Kent State (24-over, 600). First-place Alabama (6-over, 582) has extended its advantage to five strokes over Georgia (11-over, 587) and six over Oklahoma State (12-over, 588). Reigning champion Purdue is in fourth place at 15-over, 591.
