EVANSTON, Ill. -- Coming off a successful home tournament last weekend, fifth-ranked Northwestern is back on the road, making the short trip to South Bend, Ind., to compete in the Notre Dame Duals Saturday. The Wildcats take a nine-bout winning streak into the weekend and need just four victories to clinch their sixth-straight 30-win season.
Head coach Laurie Schiller's squad opens up with Michigan at 8 a.m. CT Saturday morning before facing Illinois and Indiana. The day's marqee matchup will then take place in round four as fifth-ranked Northwestern takes on second-ranked Notre Dame for the final time before the Midwest Conference Championships in March.
The Wildcats face Purdue and Case Western Reserve before another meeting with conference opponent Cleveland State. NU then closes out the day with Michigan State and Lawrence. Northwestern has traditionally matched up well with this weekend's opponents, boasting a winning record against all but one of their weekend foes.
Northwestern fencing fans can keep up with all the action from the Joyce Center this Saturday as Notre Dame will be providing a live blog throughout the Duals. Admission to the Notre Dame Duals is free of charge to any fans looking to make the trip to South Bend.
