EVANSTON, Ill. -
Northwestern junior midfielder Jack Hillgard (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) and senior goalkeeper Misha Rosenthal (Miami, Fla./Gulliver Prep) have been named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for their efforts in the Wildcats' 3-1 win over Notre Dame in the second round of the NCAA tournament Sunday afternoon.
Both players were instrumental in helping NU advance to the third round. Hillgard entered the contest with two goals this season, but he doubled his total with a pair of goals against the Fighting Irish. He notched each of Northwestern's first two scores, getting the first one 18 minutes in following a corner kick before tallying the game-winning goal at the 53:24 mark.
Hillgard's four goals this season are tied for second on the team while his 10 points are tied for fourth.
Rosenthal, meanwhile, corralled a career-high 11 saves in the victory. Staked to a 3-0 lead, he made a whopping 10 saves in the second half as Notre Dame attempted to rally back. Rosenthal has six shutouts this season and a school-record 29 in his career.
Ninth-seeded Northwestern returns to action at 2 p.m. Sunday as it travels to Tulsa, the No. 8 seed, to face the Golden Hurricane.
