GLENVIEW, Ill. -- Northwestern held off both a challenging field and tough weather conditions to finish tied for fourth at the 2009 Windy City Collegiate Classic at the Glen Club. The Wildcats finished at 26-over 890 (292-296-302) for the tournament for their third top-four finish in four events this season.

Entering the day in fifth-place, NU found itself in a battle with both New Mexico and Notre Dame for the four, five and six position all afternoon. A tough back-nine for the Lobos helped the Wildcats move up in the standings and a late rally by the Fighting Irish wasn't enough to overtake Northwestern.

Freshman Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) continued the impressive start to her Wildcat career, shooting a 1-under 71 on the day to post the second top-10 finish of her young career. Weaver's 2-over 218 (72-75-71) for the 54-hole tournament was good enough for a ninth-place tie.

Sophomore Alexandra Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) also posted a top-20 finish for Northwestern, shooting a 7-over 223 (71-75-77) to finish tied for 18th -- her third top-20 finish of the season. Sophomore Kylie Fuller (Temecula, Calif./Chapparal) and junior Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) both tied for 26th-place at 9-over 225, with junior Innapha Tantanavivat (Bangkok, Thailand/David Leadbetter Academy) rounding out the NU scorecard with a 15-over 231.

Purdue captured the team championship for the second-straight year, finishing at 4-under 860 for the two-day event, defeating second-place Tulane (10-over 874) by 14 strokes. Arizona's 21-over 885 was good enough for third-place, with New Mexico, Michigan, Iowa State and UNLV rounding out the top nine.

The Boilermakers' Maude-Aimee LeBlanc captured the individual championship, shooting a 5-under 211 and holding off Michigan's Ashley Bauer (4-under 212) by one stroke with Tulane's Linn Gustaffson (3-under 213) placing third.

Northwestern will have a little time off before closing out the spring portion of its fall schedule at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown on Oct. 26-28 in Boulder City, Nev.
