GLENCOE, Ill. -- Northwestern fired the best score of the day Monday in the final round of the 13th Windon Memorial Classic at Skokie Country Club, finishing second in the tournament with a 22-over 874 (299-291-284). Illinois captured the team title for the second-straight year while Brett Cairns of Kent State and Dan Obremski of Coastal Carolina shared medalist honors.

The Wildcats -- ranked 37th in the country -- were six strokes behind No. 10 Illinois and two shots in front of third-place No. 36 Kent State in the final standings. Northwestern also finished on top of ranked foes No. 8 Tennessee, No. 19 Michigan, No. 21 Coastal Carolina, No. 25 California and No. 39 Minnesota.

As a team, Northwestern shot an even-par 284 on Monday, matching the same total carded by third-place Kent State. The Wildcats concluded the second round, which was finished Monday morning after being suspended by darkness Sunday night, with a 7-over 291, the second-best tally of that round.

Northwestern junior David Lipsky (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) lit up the golf course Monday, matching his career-best total with a tournament-low score of 4-under 67. The round vaulted him all the way from a tie for 21st into a tie for third at 3-over 216 (75-74-67) for the tournament. Lipsky made six birdies Monday and was 6-under through 13 holes before making back-to-back bogies on Nos. 17 and 18. He came in two strokes behind the tourney medalists.

Sophomore Sam Chien (San Diego, Calif./Mt. Carmel), who held a share of the lead at 2-over par entering Monday's final round, came in fifth with a 4-over 217 (75-69-73). Chien played the front side in even par with a pair of birdies and a pair of bogies before carding a 2-over 38 on the back nine. Chien now has two top-five finishes on the year after winning the season-opening Navy Fall Classic.

Junior Josh Dupont (Poway, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) notched a top-20 effort with a 14th-place 8-over 221 (73-77-71). Dupont saved his best for last, firing an even-par 71 on Monday with a pair of birdies in the final four holes.

Senior Jonathan Bowers (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) was 27th in the individual standings with an 11-over 224 while sophomore Eric Chun (Ansung City, South Korea/International Christian School) rounded out NU's team effort with a 41st-place finish at 13-over 226 (78-73-75).

Competing as an individual, Ravi Patel (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) matched Dupont with a top-20 finish, coming in 14th at 8-over 221 (75-72-74). The Wildcats also were represented individually by Matt Denison (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North), who came in 61st at 19-over 232 (81-72-79), and Nick Losole (Scottsdale, Ariz./Scottsdale Notre Dame), who was 68th at 21-over 234 (77-82-75).
