EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern officially kicks off its championship season on Sunday, traveling to the campus of Penn State to join the rest of the conference at the Big Ten Championships. The 6K meet, which takes place at Penn State's Blue/White Golf Course at 10:45 a.m. CT, will be aired in its entirety by the Big Ten Network at noon on Sunday, Nov. 15.
NU has received consistent performances from its top performers over the past four meets as freshman Audrey Huth and sophomore Hallie Busta have managed to place one-two in each meet. Busta is Northwestern's leading returning performer from the 2008 Big Ten Championships when she placed third for the 'Cats in 23:13.3.
Current sophomore Rachel Kaminski will be looking to build on the fourth-place showing among Northwestern finishers she posted at the Big Ten Championships as a freshman last season at Michigan. Seniors Paulina Garcia and Britta Helwig are among those Wildcats running in their final conference championship meets.
There are currently six Big Ten teams ranked in the top 30 of the USTFCCCA Coaches Poll, led by No. 15 Minnesota and No. 18 Penn State.
Complete team and individual results from University Park, Pa., will be available on NUSports.com and the Penn State cross country page following the completion of the race on Sunday.
