BOULDER CITY, Nev. -- Northwestern has completed 18 holes at the 2009 Las Vegas Collegiate Invitational and sits in a tie for 14th place after round one. The Wildcats shot an 11-over 299 for the day for its 10th sub-300 round of the season, tying the program record set in 2007, and are three shots back of both Missouri and host UNLV for 12th.

Sophomore Kylie Fuller (Temecula, Calif./Chapparal) sits atop the Northwestern scorecard after round one, shooting a 1-over 73 on the afternoon and is tied for 32nd place overall. Fuller holds a one shot lead over freshman teammate Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows), who compiled a 2-over 74 through the first 18 holes.

Three different Wildcats find themselves in a tie for third on the Northwestern scorecard, as juniors Innapha Tantanavivat (Bangkok, Thailand/David Leadbetter Academy) and Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) and sophomore Alexandra Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) all finish with a 4-over 76 through the first round and are just three shots back of Fuller.

Playing in one of its most competitive fields of the fall season, Northwestern remains well within striking distance of its fifth-consecutive top-10 finish this season. The Wildcats, who are tied with Big Ten rival Minnesota for 14th, trail Missouri and UNLV by three shots for 12th and are six back of both Idaho and TCU who enter the second round tied for 10th.

Five different schools finished under par through the first 18 holes, led by Louisville's 5-under 283. The Cardinals hold a one-stroke advantage on both Arizona and UC Davis and are two shots better than fourth-place Kent State. Washington, Colorado State, Florida, Colorado and Arkansas round out the top-10 through the opening round.

Northwestern will be back on the course at Boulder Creek Golf Course at 9:30 a.m. CT Tuesday morning for the second round of the 2009 Las Vegas Collegiate Invitational, with the final round getting underway at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. Live stats of the tournament are available at Golfstat.com.
