NU Game Notes vs. Indiana (PDF)
EVANSTON, Ill. -
No. 17 Northwestern makes its first appearance of the season on the Big Ten Network Sunday as it hosts Indiana in men's soccer action at Lakeside Field. The contest kicks off at 3 p.m. and is being televised live by the Big Ten Network.
The Wildcats (8-2-4, 1-1-1 Big Ten) and Hoosiers join Penn State and Ohio State as the four one-loss teams in the Big Ten standings.
Northwestern is sponsoring its "Shake the Lake" promotion in association with Sunday's contest. Admission to the match is just $2. A pregame tailgate gets underway at 1 p.m. and features a bags tournament with free chips and guacamole courtesy of Chipotle as well as the opportunity to win Northwestern football and Chicago Blackhawks tickets and also autographed memorabilia. The first 300 kids who attend the match will receive a Northwestern drawstring bag.
The parents of the Wildcat players will be honored in pregame ceremonies and NU's own Boomshaka will perform at halftime.
Scouting Indiana
The Hoosiers (7-6-1, 2-1-0 Big Ten) are coming off a 4-0 loss at No. 8 Louisville Wednesday evening. Will Bruin leads Indiana with six goals and three assists this season, but he'll sit out the match against the Wildcats after picking up a red card Wednesday night. Andy Adlard ranks second on the squad with four goals and 10 points. Luis Soffner sports a 0.99 goals-against average and a .745 save percentage in goal for IU.
Series Information
Indiana leads the all-time series with Northwestern 22-2-1. The Hoosiers won last year's matchup 2-0 Nov. 7 in Bloomington.
Going Streaking
Northwestern saw its 10-match unbeaten streak come to an end in a 2-1 overtime loss to Wisconsin Oct. 17. The Wildcats went 7-0-3 over the span. It is the second-longest unbeaten stretch in school history, trailing only last year's team which opened the season 11-0-2.
Wildcats Down Loyola Chicago, 1-0
Matt Eliason netted his 11th goal of the season with 7:23 remaining in the second half to lift Northwestern past local foe Loyola Chicago Tuesday evening at Lakeside Field. NU got the game-winner with regulation time winding down. Piero Bellizzi played the ball ahead to Kyle Schickel who was able to find Eliason on a perfect cross from the left flank. Eliason was able to turn on a defender and fired a shot past Loyola keeper Peter McKeown for the match's lone tally. Misha Rosenthal made five saves to earn his fourth shutout of the season and the 27th of his career.
Down to the Wire
Of Northwestern's 14 matches this season, all of them have been decided by one goal or less. Six of the Wildcats' matches have gone to overtime, with NU posting a 1-1-4 record in those contests.

Northwestern hits the road next Sunday to face Michigan. The game is being televised live by the Big Ten Network and kicks off at 1 p.m. CT.
