2009 Windy City Collegiate Classic Results Through Round Two ![]()
GLENVIEW, Ill. -- Northwestern used a pair of sub-300 rounds to finish in fifth-place after the opening 36 holes of the 2009 Windy City Collegiate Classic at the Glen Club. The Wildcats shot a 292 and 296 on the day, sitting at 12-over 588 heading into Tuesday's final round and holds a one-stroke lead over sixth-place Notre Dame.
Sophomore Alexandra Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) leads Northwestern through the first 36 holes, sitting at 2-over 146. Lederhausen shot a 1-under 71 through the opening round, including an eagle on the par-five 14th.
Lederhausen leads her older sister Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) and freshman teammate Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) by one stoke, as the pair are tied for 19th overall with a 3-over 147. Weaver shot an even-par 72 through the opening 18 holes, while the elder Lederhausen matched the feat in round two.
Sophomore Kylie Fuller (Temecula, Calif./Chapparal) continued her early-season steady play, shooting a pair of 74s and is tied for 23rd overall with a 4-over 148. Junior Innapha Tantanavivat (Bangkok, Thailand/David Leadbetter Academy) sits at 10-over 154 (75-79) after day one.
The Wildcats enter Tuesday's final round four shots behind fourth-place Tulane (8-over 584) as they strive for their third top-four finish of the fall season. Defending champion Purdue looks poised to capture the Windy City for the second-straight year, recording a 12-under 564 through the first 36 holes and leads second-place Arizona (6-over 582) by 18 strokes and third-place New Mexico (7-over 583) by 19 shots.
Northwestern ranks second among the four Big Ten schools competing in the Classic, with Michigan sitting seventh at 17-over 593 and Illinois in 10th with a 26-over 602. UNLV and Iowa State sit eighth and ninth to round out the top-10.
The final round of the 2009 Windy City Collegiate Classic gets underway at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning with teams teeing off from either the first or 10th hole. The event is free and open to the public, or live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
