Northwestern Fourth After Day One of Lady Northern Invitational

Sept. 27, 2009

MADISON, Wis. -- Northwestern concludes the opening day of the 2009 Lady Northern in fourth-place, shooting a 4-over 297. Originally scheduled to play 36 holes Sunday, inclement weather in the Madison area caused delays and ultimately forced play to be stopped at 5:15 Sunday afternoon. The second round will recommence at 7:30 a.m. Monday morning, with round three to follow immediately afterwards.

Playing at the University Ridge Course, the host for the 2010 Big Ten Championships, the Wildcats remain in the hunt, trailing both Purdue and Michigan State by four strokes for second place. NU holds a three-stroke lead over fifth-place Iowa State and holds an eight-stroke advantage over Illinois.

All six Wildcat golfers were no more than half way through their second round when play was halted. Junior Innapha Tantanavivat (Bangkok, Thailand/David Leadbetter Academy) had made it through the turn, and enters Monday tied for sixth at even par through 27 holes. Sophomore Kylie Fuller (Temecula, Calif./Chapparal) is one stroke ahead and one hole behind, sitting at 1-over through the first eight holes of round two and tied for 11th.

Freshman Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) is at 2-over par through 24 holes and is tied for 16th place while sophomore Alexandra Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) is tied for 22nd, sitting at 4-ovr through 27 holes. Junior Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) is at 9-over through six holes while junior Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) has shot a 10-over through 25 holes.

After the completion of round two, the third round will commence with a shotgun start at approximately 9:30 a.m. The same pairings as used in the previous two rounds will be used for the third round. Live stats of the final day of the Lady Northern are available at Golfstat.com.
