Plaster-Strange Garners Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week Honors

Sept. 21, 2009

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern senior Courtney Plaster-Strange (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) has been a spark offensively all season for the Wildcats and on Monday was honored as the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for her performances against Missouri State and St. Joseph's. Plaster-Strange scored five goals and totaled 11 points in NU's victories.

This is the first weekly conference laurel in Plaster-Strange's career and already the third Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week selection for the Wildcats this season.

On Friday, Plaster-Strange recorded her first career hat trick--needing only three shots to accomplish the feat--and added an assist on a fourth goal to pace the Wildcats to an 8-0 triumph against Missouri State. She followed that up on Sunday by scoring twice off penalty corner plays in the 'Cats' 7-3 defeat of the Hawks, helping NU to an 8-2 start to the season.

Plaster-Strange has scored nearly as many goals in 10 games this season (six) as she did through her first three full seasons at Northwestern (seven). Currently, she is tied for third in points and tied for fourth in goals in the conference.

Northwestern faces its first Big Ten test of the season when it travels to East Lansing, Mich., to take on No. 8 Michigan State at Friday at 2 p.m.
