Scouting the Ramblers
Loyola Chicago enters the weekend with a 0-4 record and having been outscored 8-0 on the season. The Ramblers are averaging seven shots per match while allowing opponents an average of 15. Friday will be the second road game of the season for Loyola, which fell at Notre Dame, 2-0, on Aug. 28. Coming off a 14-9-0 season in 2008, Loyola was picked to finish second in the Horizon League preseason poll. Junior midfielder Laura Trevillian scored 10 goals for Loyola last season while senior forward Jackie Vera added seven goals and five assists. The Ramblers have so far been without the services of two-time Horizon League Player of the Year Cynthia Morote-Ariza, who is rehabbing an offseason injury.

Series Information
Northwestern enjoys a 8-1-1 record in the all-time series against Loyola, including wins in the last two meetings. The teams last played on Sept. 12, 2008 in Chicago, with the Wildcats earning a 3-1 victory. Junior Sam Greene scored a pair of goals in the win and senior Alicia Herczeg added the third.

Last Time Out
It was a tough weekend for Northwestern in the Show-Me State. The 'Cats dropped a 2-0 decision at then-No. 22 Missouri on Friday before losing 3-0 at Saint Louis Sunday. Junior goalkeeper Carolyn Edwards made seven saves against the Tigers and NU put five shots on goal but was unable to find the back of the net. The `Cats had a good scoring opportunity in the 22nd minute when Kendall Thoreson's corner kick was controlled in the penalty box by Caroline Dagley, but the sophomore's shot went just wide past the far post.

At Saint Louis, NU gave up an eighth-minute goal and the Billikens never looked back, limiting the Wildcats to four total shots.

Let's Hear it for Fall!
Autumn might not officially start until Sept. 23, but meteorologists consider Sept. 1 the start of fall and that's good enough for us. Under Stephanie Erickson the 'Cats have played well in the month of September, enjoying a 14-11-3 record entering play Friday. Maybe it's the cool breeze from the lake, but NU has gone 5-2-3 at Lakeside Field in September since the facility opened in 2007.
