COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Caroline Dagley (San Rafael, Calif./The Branson School) and Kay Sampson (San Francisco, Calif./Drew School) each put a pair of shots on goal but Northwestern game up empty, falling to #22 Missouri, 2-0, Friday night at Walton Stadium.

Dagley's best scoring opportunity came in the 22nd minute. Off a Kendall Thoreson (Seattle, Wash./King's) corner kick, the sophomore gained control inside the penalty box, turned and fired a shot that went just wide past the far post.

The Tigers (2-0-0) opened the scoring in the 31st minute. On a break, Kari Adam played Michelle Makasini into the box where the senior beat 'Cats keeper Carolyn Edwards (Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson) with a ball to the lower left post.

Edwards made seven saves in the contest, including stopping a point blank shot from Makasini late in the first half. The NU goalkeeper also made a great save after coming out of the penalty box to challenge a run by Missouri's Michelle Collins.

Northwestern (0-2-1) had a quick chance after halftime when Sam Greene (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica) found Sampson inside the penalty box, but the senior's header sailed over the net.

Missouri added some insurance in the 79th minute. Alysha Bonnick made a long run down the far sideline before crossing to Collins, who buried her shot past Edwards' right side.

The 'Cats return to action Sunday for a 1 p.m. match at Saint Louis. NU will be back at Lakeside Field on Friday, Sept. 4, to face Loyola Chicago.
