EVANSTON, Ill. -- Incoming freshman John Plasencia (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Jesuit) was named to the IFAF Junior World Championship All-Tournament Team first team after helping the United States win the gold medal at the competition, which wrapped up Sunday in Canton, Ohio, with a 41-3 USA victory over Canada.
Plasencia, a tight end for Team USA, made a pair of catches for 36 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's title tilt. In three total games at the World Championship, he recorded five catches for 68 total yards.
Plasencia was one of 14 Team USA members named to the All-Tournament Team first team. He was joined on the United States' roster by fellow incoming Wildcat Brian Smith.
