EVANSTON, Ill. -
Noreen Morris, Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator at Northwestern University, has been honored by the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA) by being named one of eight national recipients of its Administrator of the Year Award.
She is the honoree from all schools within the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision and will receive the award Oct. 13 at the organization's national convention in Denver, Colo. The Administrator of the Year Award, sponsored by Jostens, is bestowed to NACWAA members whom have made significant contributions as administrators of intercollegiate athletics.
Morris has served in her current role at NU since August 2004. She has oversight responsibilities for the area of compliance, supervises five sport programs, serves as the primary liaison to the Admissions and Financial Aid Offices and manages Big Ten and NCAA governance issues.
Morris came to Northwestern from Conference USA, where she spent eight years overseeing the conference's legislative and governance programs. Prior to Conference USA, she worked at the University of Connecticut where in 1991 she became the institution's first full-time compliance coordinator. Morris holds a Master's degree in Sports Administration from University of Massachusetts, and received her bachelor's degree from Cornell University, where she was a two-time co-captain and four-year letter winner on the women's soccer team.
Founded in 1979, NACWAA is the only nationally recognized collegiate professional membership organization whose mission is to enhance and promote opportunities for women in intercollegiate athletics administration. NACWAA with nearly 2,000 members promotes the growth, leadership, and success of women as athletics administrators, conference commissioners, professional staff, coaches and student-athletes. It is a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to providing education al programs, professional and personal development opportunities, information exchange, and support services to enhance collegiate athletics.
